Employment Opportunities
People come first, and CB Craftworks prides itself in cultivating and nourishing crew and staff by adopting a set of ethical and moral maxims that reside at the heart of who we are. We believe that as builders, it is our duty to ourselves and others to create a framework of people from diverse backgrounds and experience so that we may learn from each other and flourish, and do not support— in thought or action—the unnecessary and often times harmful habits, policies, and behaviors sometimes present within the traditional world of construction.
We welcome a different path. We welcome a new way.
We are outspoken in our beliefs that it should not be controversial to offer our people…
~ Thrive > Strive Model. Because a living wage is simply not enough. From laborer to forman, we offer some of the best pay in the industry with annual assessments of inflation and cost of living indexes as our affordability guides.
~ Four Day Work Week. Part of loving what you do is having the space to appreciate it. We believe a two day weekend is insufficient. Construction can be laborious and tedious, so we believe in work/life balance and hold sacred family, friends, rest, and recovery.
~ Upward Mobility. A path ahead is ground underfoot. Without adequate systems in place to encourage growth and provide opportunities, ideas wither, morale stagnates, and potential dies. We seek to provide a home for our own to grow into, and unlike county code, there are no current height limits. If any wish, we’ll build this together.
~ Health Care Benefits. Our bodies and minds do the work, we endeavor through their care. We are currently prioritizing being able to provide every one of our crew with health care coverage and are actively working on making this a reality. Although we don’t have the crew size yet to support this, monthly stipends will be available to share the cost until we can make that a reality in the not-too-distant future.
~ True Equal Opportunity. Justice asks more of us than acknowledgment. Our ultimate goal is to see people thrive. We realize this means challenging and casting out harmful, often times entrenched dogmatic sentiments which so many of us are bombarded with—and subjected to—from so many of our systems. Although we can only play a small part in the greater field of the societal changes we strive to see in the greater world, we believe that any person should have an equal seat at our company table as peers, and be treated with respect, kindness, honesty, and empathy.
~ Healthy Working Environment. No one should fear for life, limb, or mind on the job. This is easier said than done in an industry where stoicism and harmful sentiments surrounding toughness and hard work have taken precedent over common sense. We consider this an affront and an insult. We’re here to say: let’s not add literal injury to the mix. Not in our house! Physically, you will experience a cleaner construction site, readily available masks and respirators to protect your lungs, safety equipment standard and present on all power tools and machinery, and a crew who truly try to work smarter and teach smarter. Mentally, you will go to work never having to fear insult nor injury for any reason. This is a no exceptions policy.
Environmental Considerations
In addition to our shared mission and commitment to our people, we also have a commitment to the land and the footprints we leave. Our company is modernizing outdated building standards by not only prioritizing more eco friendly/people friendly building materials, but also in having a singular goal of bringing newer materials and construction methods not yet available into our area. Because of this, our homes will feature…
~ Improved Passive Energy Standards
~ Lower Energy Bills
~ Greatly Reduced Harmful/Toxic Byproducts
~ Better Indoor Air Quality
~ Overall Improved Living Standards
~ Lower Carbon Footprint
…And more. We seek to form a triangle of net-positive benefits between our company, the Earth, and its people.
